Michael Jackson still breaking records even in death

Michael Jackson may be dead but you better believe his music still lives on.

Forbes released a rich list for dead celebrities and Michael Jackson clinched the top position earning more than Elvis Presley and maybe even some living musicians. According to the Forbes list, Jackson earned a total of $400 million in 2017 alone.

The late king of Pop who died aged 50 in 2009 is the highest earning dead celebrity for the sixth time and the sale of his EMI Music Publishing stake to Sony definitely boosted his income.

According to Forbes, his earnings may also have been boosted by his Michael jackson Halloween Special which began airing in 2017.

John Branca, the dead musician’s co-executor said, “You see ‘Charlie Brown Christmas’ and ‘Charlie Brown Thanksgiving’ every year, so now we’re looking to have ‘Michael Jackson’s Halloween’ every year. We hope that it’ll become evergreen.”

In second place is Elvis Presley – the Rock and Roll legend who died in 1977 aged 42 – with $40 million.

Other dead celebrities on the list are Bob Marley, Prince, Hugh Hefner, John Lennon and Marilyn Monroe.
