World Cup Qualifier Highlights and Results

Argentina may not qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1970 and Norway keeps soaring.

All eyes were on Argentina earlier today as they played in front of a sold out home crowd but yet again, the constant tinkering with the team has not paid off with them settling for a goalless draw against Peru while Chile beat Ecuador 2-1 thanks to a late goal from Alexis Sanchez to move above Argentina in the table standings. Meanwhile, Uruguay were held by Venezuela and Brazil who have nothing to lose after qualifying for the World Cup next year also drew against Bolivia.

England beat Slovenia 1-0 and Germany thrashed Northern Ireland 3-1 but most noteworthy is the outstanding display Norway have been putting on and their 8-0 win against San Mairno shows they are ready to give all to qualify for the tournament in Russia next year, as Joshua King and Elyounoussi were on target.

Lewandoski also grabbed a hat-trick in Poland’s 6-1 bashing of Armenia.
