After making history at the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Cup in October last year, Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri sets a new record.

According to the latest ranking by ITTF, he’s now the number one tennis player in Africa. Before now, the number one was Egypt’s Omar Assar who has 10233 points. Quadri toppled him with one point for the second time this year.

Quadri’s points also saw him jump two steps up to the 20th position in the world ranking, making it the second time the 29-year-old is breaking into the world top 20 table tennis players. No other Nigerian has ever achieved this feat.
