Hollywood icon and multiple award winning actress Cicely Tyson has been reported dead at the age of 96.
The renowned actor and Hollywood personality died on Thursday, 28 January in her California home according to her manager.
During the length of her illustrious career, she was the recipient of three Primetime Emmy Awards, four Black Reel Awards, one Screen Actors Guild Award, one Tony Award, an honorary Academy Award, and a Peabody Award.
She is also the first African-American woman to win an honorary Academy Award.
Larry Thompson, Cicely’s manager who announced her death on Thursday said: “I have managed Miss Tyson’s career for over 40 years, and each year was a privilege and blessing. Cicely thought of her new memoir as a Christmas tree decorated with all the ornaments of her personal and professional life. Today she placed the last ornament, a Star, on top of the tree.”
