Game of Thrones will end on 19 May and fans are definitely not ready to see the end of the beloved series.

However, that won’t quite be the case, as a week later HBO will air a two-hour documentary about the filming of the eighth and final season.

Game of Thrones: The Last Watch will air on 26 May. It was directed by British filmmaker Jeanie Finlay and delves deep into the mud and blood to reveal the tears and triumphs involved in the challenge of bringing the fantasy world of Westeros to life in the very real studios, fields and car-parks of Northern Ireland.

To be clear, this is not the reunion special filmed on a set and hosted by late-night host Conan O’Brien; so far as we know, that’s going to appear on a forthcoming Game of Thrones Blu-ray boxset. So there will be multiple ways to say goodbye to the show after it’s over.

Game of Thrones season 8 premieres on 14 April.
