A Dubai job agency, Shirley Recruitment Consultants, has released a job advert online barring Nigerian males and females from applying for the said position.
According to the job details, a company is looking for ”merchandisers” in Dubai, UAE.
All other African citizens can apply for the job except Nigerians.
The exclusion of Nigerians is being connected to the recent arrest of Nigerian Dubai-based alleged fraudsters, Ramon Abass who is also known as Hushpuppi, and Olalekan Ponle, a.k.a Woodberry, along with 10 other Nigerians.
It is no longer news that one Ramon Igbalode Abass, a 37-year-old Nigerian, also known as Hushpuppi, was arrested by the FBI in Dubai in June 2020.
This just goes to show how the actions of a few bad eggs negatively impacts how the rest of the citizens are perceived. We also wonder if the discriminatory action by Shirley Recruitment Consultants is legal.
