Welbeck was given an extended break despite playing only 11 minutes in the World Cup and is yet to return to training.
With Alex Iwobi’s contract extension, it is becoming increasingly obvious that Emery does not have space for Welbeck in the starting 11 as the two would have to compete for the left wing position.
