Apple drops first teaser of its newsroom drama, The Morning Show [Video]

A first teaser for The Morning Show, which stars Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell and Reese Witherspoon, and made for Apple’s TV has been released.

Per a tweet from Witherspoon back in March, the show “reveals what happens in the fast-paced world of broadcast news.” And it’ll be out this fall.

According to Deadline, The Morning Show will follow “the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning, exploring the unique challenges faced by the women (and men) who carry out this daily televised ritual.”

Apple commissioned the series, which reportedly started filming last year. And now, we can have a first peek at what to expect, described by The Verge as “Apple’s version of The Newsroom, Aaron Sorkin’s HBO series about a team of journalists at a CNN-like organisation, as they fight trends that affect the coverage of major political and cultural events.”

The Morning Show’s teaser doesn’t include any of the major cast, but the dramatic voiceover about the importance of journalism is unmistakable.

“I’m a journalist, I can feel when the world needs me,” Carell can be heard saying at one point.

“People want to trust that the person telling them the news of the world is an honest person,” Witherspoon’s character says at another.

The Morning Show was one of several shows Apple highlighted earlier this year at an event previewing the content coming to the forthcoming streaming service.

The show, Witherspoon says at the event, pulls back the curtain on “the power dynamics between men and women in the high-stakes world of morning news shows.”

“It’s a real insiders’ view into the lives of the people who help America wake up every day,” she adds.

Witherspoon and Aniston also co-own the show and executive produce it.
