4 reasons you should not miss Felabration 2018

The festival started in 1998 by Yeni Anikulapo Kuti in memory and celebration of her father, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, who died on 2 August 1997. This year’s edition of Felabration will hold from 15 – 21 October 2018 and it promises to be a memorable and bigger experience as guests and celebrities from all over the world will grace the event.

Here are reasons why you should attend Felabration:

#1. Great musical performance

Felabration annually attracts the best acts (local and international) from all corners of the earth and Felabration 2018 will not be an exception. So, if you are looking for a place to unwind next week, the shrine should be the place. The event will have music performances from the likes of Femi Kuti, Seun Kuti, Adewale Ayuba, Davido, Adekunle Gold and DJ Jimmy Jatt, Sauti Sol, Bez, Kiss Daniel, Niniola, Koker, MC Galaxy, Viktoh, QDot, Terry Apala, Brymo, Jaywon and Dotman amongst others.

#2. Showcasing Fela’s artwork

This session is an art competition that will showcase the artistic styles and designs of Fela about his lifetime, his unique and stylish mode of dressing, his stage performance and creative display of his dance to his music.

#3. Felabration afrobics dance competition

There would also be a dance competition with the late legend’s music. This year’s Felabration will also be birthing the first ever Afrobics dance competition. Personally, I can’t wait to see what the dance is all about.

#4. Interactive debate session about Fela

The event will start with the debate session. The debate is designed to educate and entertain the participants and ensure that the week is a memorable one. The debate will be centred around the late legend, his lifestyle, music and his beliefs.
