Ckay returns early this month with a fresh new “WATAWI” track.

The four minutes long track leans heavily on Amapiano with Ckay’s echoing the tantalizing voice we’ve come to know him for, assisted with vocals from Nigerian afrobeat globetrotter Davido and two of South Africa’s finest artistes, Focalistic and Abidoza.

“WATAWI” is a beautiful song and marks the singer’s first release of the year. The track is currently charting on music platforms and racking up impressive numbers.

The burgeoning household name, Asake, continues his trajectory of infectious numbers with the release of “Peace Be Unto You,” a sharp track that flexes the singer’s streetwise pensive songwriting. Also heavily leaning on the Amapiano sound like “WATAMI,” “Peace Be Unto You” is arguably one of Asake’s best songs, and this writer believes so.

8- Big Energy- Ladipoe

Mavin’s record, rap connoisseur Ladipoe describes the term “Big Energy” as the authentic confidence without arrogance, and I can’t agree less. The song is the rapper’s first solo single of the year, and he’s more confident than ever on it. Every line in the song sees Ladipoe as braggadocious, a reminder of his self-assuredness.

7- Adulthood Na Scam- Lade

6- Legalize- Mr. Eazi

To usher in a new album, Mr. Eazi dropped a brand new single, “Legalize,” earlier this month. The song is a love letter to his fiancee, Temi Otedola.

On the two minutes track, Mr. Eazi yearns for his lover’s affection over production credits from Micheal Brun, E Kelly, and Nonso Amadi.

“Legalize” is gradually making its way to the top spot on the music chart across the country.

Overloading {OVERDOSE} is a vibrant afro-pop track with beautiful and fun written verses from all its artists.

Since landing on music streaming platforms, the song has sprung up viral challenges on tik tok, further helping it occupy the top spots on the chart.

4- Call Me Every Day- Chris Brown Featuring Wizkid

Wizkid joins American Singer-Songwriter Chris Brown on the track “Call Me Every Day,” taken off his tenth studio album Breezy. The song marks their second collaboration since Wizkid’s second studio album in 2016.

The slow tempo track sees Chris Brown and Wizkid’s verses intertwining without outdoing one another. The track blends elements of afrobeat and R&B.

As expected, upon its release, it skyrocketed on the music chart, aiming to become a hit song.

3- Buga {Lo Lo Lo}- Kizz Daniel Featuring Tekno

Kizz Daniel’s career has racked up several hit songs, and his ability to create catchy songs is commendable. “Buga” was released in May and became an instant viral hit; like every other song that breaks out in the country, “Buga” was buttered with a dance step helping the song attain more status among other songs from the country. The track featured Tekno and was co-produced by BlaiseBeatz, Yung Willis, and Kizzo.

2- Want- Niniola

Afrohouse singer, Niniola released “Want” during the first week of June, and by now, it has gone inchmeal to become one of the most notable songs this month. Like every other song by Niniola, on “Want,” she flexes her vocals over an Amapiano-inspired beat.

The track falls into another one of Niniola’s afro-house discography; we have seen over time how she has been able to trend set the mentioned subgenre, and on “Want,” she doesn’t fall short like she has done on every other song before it.

1- Break My Soul- Beyonce

“Break My Soul” is the lead single off Beyonce’s forthcoming album Renaissance, scheduled to be released July 29, 2022. It is a house, dance-pop music. This genre is a new trajectory for the superstar.

“Break My Soul” lyrics deals with letting go while being optimistic; upon its release, the song became the biggest debut for a solo song by a female artist in 2022 on the music streaming platform- Spotify.
