Tiwa Savage & other celebrities whose leaked videos went viral
Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage is trending on the internet because of a viral leaked video of her being intimate with a former lover. Here, we look at other celebrities who have had leaked videos too.
Recall that Tiwa revealed that a blackmailer was currently in possession of footage showing her intimate moments with a lover in a recent interview and was threatening to release it.
She stated that the video was accidentally posted on Snapchat by the lover, who deleted it immediately when he realized the error. However, it was late as someone else had already gotten hold of it and wanted to extort her over it.
On Monday night, 18 October 2021, the video was reportedly leaked by an anonymous Instagram blogger.
Asides from Tiwa’s leaked video, other celebrities have their tapes on the internet either from a disloyal partner, a hack, or they even released the saucy footage themselves on the sly.
Here are some of the well-known names who managed to find their silver lining even in the face of public humiliation.
The reality TV star got a sensitive video of her released in 2008, and not only has Kim Kardashian managed to launch a highly successful business empire off its but it also sent her family’s careers into the stratosphere as it led to the creation of the famed reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
The 39-minute video shows Kim being intimate with her then-boyfriend Ray J, and it earned her a hefty £3million payout after she struck a deal with the rights holders.
At first, the tape was released when Adult film company Vivid Entertainment purchased it from a third party for $1 million. According to Page six, Kim initially tried to sue the company to prevent the tape from being released but ended up settling with a $5 million lawsuit since its impact was already made.
Half-Greek singer had her intimate video released by her boyfriend, or at least, that’s what she said since she accused him of deliberately selling the tape.
She released a video admitting that she starred in the leaked clip with her ex Justin Edwards, who is famous by his stage name, DJ Ultra.
The singer was already pretty famous when the video of her offering her ex-boyfriend some oral affection was released. Still, the incident created a huge amount more media coverage around the X-Factor judge and N-dubz singer.
After the film was leaked, she was voted FHM’s world’s sexist woman in the world.
Before the tape, Paris Hilton was a not-so-famous socialite, and after its release, she became so popular that she became a household name.
The video surfaced in 2004, three years after Paris and her then-boyfriend Rick Solomon made the video. And hers was possibly the first of all the celebrity leaked intimate videos.
In 2001 when she was just 19 years old, Paris Hilton and her then-boyfriend Rick Salomon, 33, filmed their bedroom encounter. He then released the video years later, just weeks before Hilton’s show The Simple Life was set to air on television.
Hilton claimed she never approved of the release of the tape and that she was delirious during the filming. This led to Salomon suing Hilton for defamation. Hilton then countersued Salomon, and they ended up settling out of court.
Hulk Hogan’s tape was released in 2006 and a dramatic divorce battle ensued between him and his wife. The 2006 video was of Hulk Hogan getting down with his friend Bubba Clem’s Wife, Heather.
According to Hogan, he was not aware that the encounter was being filmed. He also claimed that his friend, Bubba, gave him permission to sleep with his wife.
Then Hogan went on to start a long legal battle against the blog site – Gawker – that released the video on their site, seeking $100 million in damages. The lawsuit went on for years and eventually, in 2016, Hogan was awarded nearly $200 million in damages from the company.
Gawker tried to appeal the verdict twice but was denied both times. Hogan sued Gawker for a second time after he claimed that they leaked sealed court documents that had quoted him using racial slurs. Gawker filed for bankruptcy protection and the company was sold. Then they both reached another $31 million settlement.
