American rapper Kanye West has released the highly anticipated second clothing drop of his Yeezy collaboration with Gap.
Many fans of the rapper-turned-designer have expressed their surprise after they found the Gap clothing drop to be a simple hoodie.
In June 2020, Kanye announced a 10-year Yeezy Gap collaboration and the first pieces from the deal are to be introduced in the first half of 2021. A year after, during West’s 44th birthday, Gap released the $200 ‘Round Jacket’ in the form of a pre-order, sharing that those who purchased the Yeezy piece wouldn’t be seeing it until fall.
However, on Wednesday, 29 September 2021 the line’s second piece was added to Gap’s website.

The first product from the collaboration was a bright blue round jacket that costs $200. It didn’t feature any type of fasteners in the front except for a Yeezy Gap logo tag in the interior. The $200 jacket markets the first tease of the highly anticipated clothing line.

Gap unveiled its second collaboration with Kanye West’s Yeezy label, and US customers can now pre-order’s the widely-anticipated hoodie at $90 for adult sizes and $70 for children.
With a takeover of the homepage and Gap’s blue logo reimagined to carry the letters YZY, the hoodie is available for pre-order in six colours, including black, blue and red.
Shipping is expected to start between two and eight weeks after the announcement. Just hours after orders opened, all adult sizes large and above were marked as “sold out.”
In 2020, West told the Wall Street Journal, “The hoodie is arguably the most important piece of apparel of the last decade.”
Going on to describe the sweatshirt as ‘perfect’, he added, “[it’s] slightly cropped at the waist [and] heavy as a winter coat.”
It appears he has accomplished that mission, along with his desire to have the sweatshirt come in muted colours like flax or dusty stone.
