The late king of pop Michael Jackson finally joins the billion club on YouTube as the video for his 1982 smash hit “Billie Jean” crosses over a billion views on the video-sharing and social media platform.
It joins 80s music videos like “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses’ and A-ha’s “Take on Me” to reach this milestone.
So far in 2021, Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean”, which earned the king of pop two Grammys as well as getting nominated for song of the year in 1984, has averaged more than 600,000 daily global views.
The video was directed by Steve Barron, one of three produced in support of Jackson’s masterpiece, “Thriller”.

The album remains the best-selling album (in terms of global sales) of all time. The video for the album’s title track is also nearing 765 million views on YouTube.
It would be the 12th anniversary of Jackson’s death on 25 June and the YouTube achievement comes just a couple of days before.
