‘Billie Jean’ gives Michael Jackson first billion views on YouTube

The late king of pop Michael Jackson finally joins the billion club on YouTube as the video for his 1982 smash hit “Billie Jean” crosses over a billion views on the video-sharing and social media platform.

It joins 80s music videos like “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses’ and A-ha’s “Take on Me” to reach this milestone.

So far in 2021, Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean”, which earned the king of pop two Grammys as well as getting nominated for song of the year in 1984, has averaged more than 600,000 daily global views.

The video was directed by Steve Barron, one of three produced in support of Jackson’s masterpiece, “Thriller”.
