Today is so important that Google has decided to celebrate teachers in a special way by creating a unique Google Doodle.

The theme for 2018 – The right to education means the right to a qualified teacher – marks the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948 by the United Nations.

The event was established in 1994 and commemorates the 1966 signing of the UNESCO/ILO Recommendation Concerning the Status of Teachers, the document that helped to address the status of teachers worldwide.

Why is today so important?

The event is held to mark the anniversary of the adoption of an important document in the history of education. It promotes appreciation, assessment and how to improve educators all over the world. Today, World Teachers’ Day is celebrated in more than 100 countries throughout the world.

So why don’t you take some time from your busy schedule to thank an educator or mentor that helped and encouraged you to be creative? For students and parents, you can get something small to celebrate your teacher(s) in school.
