Nigerians have taken to the Twitter community to drag the minister of health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, for saying he wasn’t aware if medical practitioners were being paid hazard allowances.
In a video that went viral, the minister of health was in the House of Representatives and he was asked by the Speaker of the House if the frontline medical personnel were being paid their hazard allowances and the minister stated that he wasn’t aware.
The response from the minister of health angered Nigerians and they have taken to the Twitter community to rant and to troll him.
Since the outbreak of the virus in the country, medical doctors have risked their lives to ensure that those infected with the virus regain their health.
So, it is quite alarming to hear from the health minister himself that he wasn’t sure if the medical practitioners are getting their allowances.
See some of their various reactions below:
Hazard allowance for front line health workers to fight COVID-19 in Nigeria is 5k.
As if that's not wicked enough, the Minister of Health says he's not aware if they are being paid that huge sum of 5k, but remember…

What was that I heard the Minister of Health saying before the House Committee?
Haaa!
Naaaa.
He needs to take back some of those statements and build confidence with our Doctors and other HealthCare workers in that sector.
This time more than ever requires collaboration.— Oby Ezekwesili (@obyezeks) April 10, 2020
You have to watch this video. The Minister of Health doesn't think Drs should be paid extra hazard allowance for battling Coronavirus. https://t.co/hGlrt6Ofbg

The Minister of Health is a disgrace and should be fired. I appreciate Rt Hon @femigbaja for representing the interest of our Doctors where inconsequential placeholders have sold their souls to defend inanities just to keep their job at the expense of a whole institution. https://t.co/OQmlyPkOMo

Osinbajo: Sir, almost all your cabinet members are not aware of basic things they should know. Minister of Health just said he is not aware if doctors are paid Hazard allowance.
Buhari: Is that so?
Osinbajo: Are you not aware?
Buhari: I'M NOT AWARE pic.twitter.com/SC0Hcr10Sb

Our former Minister of Health said Drs can be farmers, his tailor is a Dr.
Our New Minister of health doesn’t know if we are paid Hazard allowance and even doesn’t understand why we need it. After all #COVID19 screening is like our everyday job.
It’s Good Friday. No comment.

In sane countries,
That kind of nonsense statement made by the minister of health is a career-terminating statement. How can you go to Parliament of lawmakers to tell them you are “not aware” of any hazard allowance for health workers fighting Coronavirus?
How can you say that?

I had watch this video over and over to be sure I heard the minister of health clearly.
He didn’t mince words or even stammer, came out straight that the reps had to remind him that this was a Novel virus we are dealing with. pic.twitter.com/9O4h7fAxgj

In sane countries, the Minister of Health would have been forced to step down for that comment.
