The Senate President was commenting on the Point of Order raised by the Chairman of the Ad- hoc Committee and Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Francis Alimikhena, APC, Edo North during the Thursday’s plenary of the Senate. Senator Alimikhena had informed the Senate that the Ad-hoc Committee had summoned the IGP in a letter written October 16 to answer to the said allegations.

In his comments, Senator Bukola said that the IGP must respect himself by appearing before the Senate Ad-hoc Committee especially if he thinks that he has nothing to hide. Adding that as the Chief Law enforcement officer, it had become very imperative for the IGP to lead by example and appear before the Committee to clear his name. He noted that just as nobody was above the law, the IGP should appear before the Ad-hoc committee like others had done in the past if he had nothing to hide.
