Kukah, who is the younger brother of Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Hassan Kukah, was kidnapped from his house at Anchuna, Zangon Kaataf at about 9 pm on Tuesday.
A source said that gunmen stormed the house of the traditional ruler and asked him to come out of the house.
One of the guards at the palace was said to have been forcefully whisked away in the gunmen’s vehicle with the traditional ruler after he stepped in to prevent them from kidnapping him.
The kidnap of Chief Kukah comes less than 72 hours after another traditional ruler and his pregnant wife were shot and killed by unknown gunmen in a village in Sanga local government of Kaduna.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mukhtar Aliyu, confirmed the kidnap of the traditional ruler, saying a team of police operatives from the Command and soldiers attached to the Operation Safe Haven, have been deployed to the area.
Aliyu asked the people of the community not to panic just as he expressed optimism that the team would track down the kidnappers as well as rescue the monarch and his guard.
