A female member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in Oyo State has narrated how she narrowly escaped being raped by a commercial bike man, popularly known as “Okada”.
Narrating the harrowing encounter, the distraught corp member identifying by her Instagram handle @snowwhite2911 wrote that the incident happened while she was on her to the secretariat from her place of primary assignment (PPA). She said that she had boarded the okada for the less than 30 km journey when the okada rider stopped half-way through the journey and attempted to rape her.
She said that she was helpless as they were in a lonely place with only bushes around. The man dragged her to a corner of the bush, hit her as she was trying to fight him off and tore her uniform. “I was only shouting Jesus Jesus save me save me then at a point he left me and drove off with his bike,” she wrote.
“I just believe that God intervene in my battle because I see no other reason why he would av left me not accomplishing his aim to rape me and didn’t collect my phone or any belongings,”, she added.The corp member ended her story by imploring the government to “scrap this NYSC or stop posting corpers to remote areas.”
