The five-count charges case was initially filed by the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation on October 10 and was marked FCT/HC/CR/345/201. The government claims that the senator made injurious falsehood against the Nigeria Police Force and the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris.
Recall that Senator Misau in a motion on the Senate floor had claimed that IGP contravenes the Police Act by engaging in sexual relationships with serving officers of the force and subsequently marrying one of them identified as Asta and promoting another. Asta’s family denied.

Meanwhile, Senator Misau denied the charges and pleaded guilty to all five charges read to him. His barrister subsequently requested bail,w which was granted by the presiding judge, Justice Ishaq Bello.
His bail was set at N5m with two reliable sureties in like sum, which totalled N10m for the two sureties.
The trial is fixed for 28th and 29th November 2017.
