It must be the season of marriage reports and divorce seeking as the media keeps getting wind of different marital issues that end up in court. The latest is that of a man named Bamidele who in the Idi-Ogungun Customary Court at Agodi, Ibadan, asked the court to dissolve his marriage because his wife’s character was bad.
Bamidele complained that his wife did not show him respect and even outside the home she brought disgrace to the family as she fought and cursed at neighbors when a little friction occured between them and also mentioned that she was too stubborn and never listened to anything he says.
The President of the court, Chief Mukaila Balogun, dissolved the marriage after the wife herself urged the court to grant the wishes of the plaintiff who is her husband ‘only in name.’ According to her, Yinka, she said that the husband did not merit any respect as he has left the handling of every financial problem in the home to her.
The court insisted that Bamidele take custody of the first child of the marriage and the last two go to Yinka. Meanwhile, the plaintiff will keep paying a sum of N7,000 as monthly allowance for the two kids with Yinka.
