The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded the highest number yet, in a single day, since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria.
195 new cases of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), has been recorded bringing the total cases to 1,532.
NCDC, through its verified Twitter account, stated that of the 195 new cases, 80 were recorded in Lagos state, 38-Kano, 15-Ogun, 15-Bauchi.
Also Borno recorded 11, 10-Gombe, 9-Sokoto, 5-Edo, 5-Jigawa, 2-Zamfara, 1-Rivers, 1-Enugu, 1-Delta, 1-FCT and 1-Nasarawa.
It also stated that four deaths were reported in the last 24 hours and one new state, Nasarawa, reported a case.
According to the NCDC, one case previously reported in Gombe State is now recorded as a Borno State case, therefore the total number of cases in Borno is 53 and 46 in Gombe.
“On the 28th of April 2020, 195 new confirmed cases and four deaths were recorded in Nigeria,” the NCDC writes on their Twitter handle.
”One new state (Nasarawa) has reported a case in the last 24 hours. Till date, 1532 cases have been confirmed, 255 cases have been discharged and 44 deaths have been recorded in 33 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
“The 195 new cases are reported from fifteen states- Lagos (80), Kano (38), Bauchi (15), Ogun (15), Borno (11), Gombe (10), Sokoto (9), Jigawa (5), Edo (5), Zamfara (2), FCT (1), Enugu (1), Rivers (1), Delta (1), Nasarawa (1),” the tweet adds.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari, on Monday, in a nationwide broadcast, approved a gradual easing of the lockdown in Lagos, Ogun states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja starting from Monday, 4th May 2020.
The president also declared a nationwide curfew from 8 pm to 6 am with effect from that date while also placing an immediate lockdown on the entire Kano state to curb the spread of the virus.
