The incident happened on a London street in May this year. Mark Morris, 39, and 33-year-old Emma Day dated for eight years when their relationship broke down. Their only child together, a girl then went to live with her mother Emma. Emma subsequently requested child support for their child from her Morris who said he couldn’t afford to pay.
On the day of the attack, Emma had requested a friend to walk home with her with her children. She told the friend that Morris had been around and that he had made her feel nervous because he was so unpredictable, the court was told. Morris emerged from an alleyway and approached them and begged Day not to make him pay child support because he was in debt. When she refused, he started calling her names.
At this point, the friend sent the children away as she didn’t want them to witness any violence against their mother. As nothing was being resolved between them, Day decided to go home as she said that she needed to give the children their dinner. She had a child from another relationship.
Man faked his own death after wife hired assassins to murder him
Emma and her friend started working home and Morris dropped a bag he was carrying and rushed towards Emma with a knife in his hand, which he used to stab her. The friend rushed to her defence but he continued to stab her. The friend eventually managed to get him off and he ran away. The friend then called 999.
Officers attended and searched the area, finding a bag with a number of items inside belonging to Morris – including correspondence from the Child Maintenance Service. The murder weapon was also recovered nearby.
The 39-year-old pleaded guilty to murder at the Old Bailey (court). He had previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the basis of “loss of control” at the Old Bailey but it was not accepted by the court.
Detective Inspector John Massey, the senior investigating officer from the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: “This was a pre-meditated, brutal attack where Morris laid in wait for Emma so he could confront her.
“When the conversation did not go his way, he has followed Emma, produced a large knife and stabbed her to death before fleeing the scene.
”This horrific attack on a defenceless young woman was witnessed by Emma’s lifelong friend who desperately tried to protect her from Morris. Thankfully, Emma’s children did not witness the attack but they have still had their loving mother taken away from them.
“I hope today’s conviction will give Emma’s family and friends a measure of comfort and closure.”

This man knew he won’t get away with the murder yet he killed that poor woman. There was A witness. He must really hate the ex. Well go jail since that’s what you wanted.
If you don’t want to pay child support then don’t have kids. How could à man think paying debts is more important than feeding his kid. Moreover, the money he has to can’t be that much as to cripple him. The child support service would have taken account of his income and other obligations. Wicked man
The evil man was smiling in the mugshot. No remorse? I’ll give d highest possible sentence to this murderer. Rot in prison killer.
