Stylist Tolu Bally accuses Uber driver of threatening to stab and kidnap her mother

The driver arrived at the location but things began to get sketchy when he drove off-route and tendered an unreasonable excuse.

According to Tolu, she spoke to the Uber guy and he said he wanted to go through the 4th roundabout to avoid traffic which doesn’t make sense as there was no traffic. She asked him to drive her mom back home but he hung up the phone.

Her mom called back, screaming that the guy wasn’t listening to her and all. Hence, Tolu asked her mom to put the phone call on speaker and told the Uber driver to let her mom alight from his car if he couldn’t bring her back home.

At this point, the driver had gone offline and the vehicle couldn’t be traced. Tolu kept calling her mom’s phone who obviously was screaming and crying in the car; telling him to drop her or take her home. It was then that she knew something was wrong. So, she left the studio and headed to the 4th roundabout, calling her mom who wasn’t picking all along.

Her mom eventually picked the call and said the guy threatened to stab her and take her to an unknown destination where no one would find her.

All through the journey, her mom and the driver kept exchanging words and at some point, she told her mom to wind down the door glass and scream for help. She did as she was told and also grabbed him from the back with his t-shirt.

They got into a small traffic and passersby heard so he had to pull over. The mom at this point has lost all energy and was shaking. The witnesses seeing how rough and unkempt the Uber driver was, asked him for his ID. He acted like he was going to get it from the car and ran away.

They were later able to track the vehicle and found out that the Uber guy who picked Tolu’s mom from her house was different from the guy in the Uber app picture.

She reported the issue to Uber but is dissatisfied with the way it’s being handled. She added that she never believed the story of people using Uber for kidnapping till now that it happened to her.
