In the State capital city, Owerri, the Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Enwerem, paraded Favour Vincent (17), Perpetua (19), Amarachi Victor (22), Hygenius Ofoegbu (31) and Vitalis Para (24) and explained to members of the media that:
It was in the course of investigations that the plan was discovered after Favour confessed that she and her elder sister Perpetua had formed the plan and Godwin had received the money then ran away with it and she had been unable to reach him through his phone since then. The Police said that the Army boyfriend was still being hunted for.
Favour said their Grandmother was wealthy but had always refused to give them money and instead preferred giving it out to strangers and the ‘faked kidnap saga’ had been a bid to collect some money from her.
