Super Eagles: Nigeria drops three places in latest FIFA World Ranking

The Super Eagles, the men’s senior national side for Nigeria, has dropped three places from 29th to 32nd position in the latest FIFA World Ranking that was released on Thursday, 21 October 2020.

The latest FIFA World Ranking was announced by the world football governing body (FIFA) on their official website.

The drop in the world rankings for the Super Eagles also migrated to their ranking on the continent as the Eagles only now occupy the fourth position.

It also does not look like their ranking will improve as their next month 2021 AFCON qualifying opponent, the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone, did not fare any better either after dropping one spot to 120th.

The Teranga Lions of Senegal remain Africa’s highest-ranked side at 21st and number one on the continent.

Tunisia who is 26th in the global ratings occupies the second spot in Africa.

AFCON title holders, Algeria, are currently sitting pretty on the third spot in Africa having climbed five places and are now 30th in the world.

There were no changes in the top five ranked countries in the world as Belgium, France, Brazil, England, and Portugal remained in first, second, third, fourth and fifth positions respectively.

The Spanish national side occupies the 6th position while Uruguay is 7th. Two-time World Cup champions Argentina is 8th while Croatia and Colombia complete the top 10 in the world.
