Spotify now allows creation of playlist based on DNA

Spotify is now offering its users unique playlists based on their DNA.

The music streaming platform app is now allowing members to input results from the AncestryDNA website. The streaming platform will generate selections of music based on their genetics and family tree.

In a statement to Pitchfork on the issue, Ancestry said:

Protecting our customers’ privacy is Ancestry’s highest priority. Spotify does not have access to DNA data of any Ancestry customers.

“Customers can manually input regions, into the playlist generator on Spotify and then a custom playlist is created with songs by artists from the various regions and across a wide variety of musical genres.”

In another recent update, Spotify has tripled the number of songs that users can download and listen to offline.

More information is available on the Ancestry website.
