Premier League Matchday 12 Roundup: Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton side ends Chelsea’s unbeaten run at Goodison Park; Other Saturday results

Everton moved up to seventh on the table after Sigurdson’s penalty made the difference between both sides and condemned Frank Lampard’s team to their first loss in 10 Premier League matches.

Everton were awarded the spot-kick in the 22nd minute after Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy fouled Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Sigurdsson, the go-to set-piece taker for Everton, stepped up and sent Mendy the wrong way for his first Premier League goal of the season.

Chelsea, however, almost gave an instant response when Reece James hit the inside of the post with a shot from distance.

Three minutes into the second half, Mason Mount clipped the crossbar yet again following a deft lob over the advanced Jordan Pickford.

Mason Mount hit the woodwork again from a free-kick after VAR had ruled out a penalty call by the referee to show how unlucky Chelsea were on the night.

Everton held on to move up to seventh on 20 points while Chelsea, who lost for the first time in 10 PL matches, are third on 22 points.
