Netflix and EbonyLife TV bringing Lola Shoneyin and Wole Soyinka’s classics to TV screens

Great news for movie lovers: Netflix and EbonyLife TV are working on an adaptation of your favourite novels!

Netflix and Mo Abudu just made the announcement on social media that they have signed a major deal to bring two literary classics to life.

Two critically acclaimed novels Wole Soyinka‘s ‘Death and the King’s Horseman’, and Lola Shoneyin‘s ‘The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives’ are being adapted into a feature length movie and a series to be screened on Netflix.

That’s not all though. Netflix Naija also announced that Mo Abudu’s EbonyLife TV will also produce two new Nigerian originals plus licensed films and a series for Netflix.

This makes EbonyLife TV the first African and the first Nigerian company to sign a multi-project deal with Netflix.

Lola Shoneyin confirmed the news on Twitter, writing: “Sometimes, dreams take years… Thank you to my brilliant producer @MoAbudu for all your hard work. Thank you, @netflix for believing in the story.”
