The NBA season is set to return in December with preseason games scheduled to take place between 11-19 December, according to The Athletic.
To maintain its tradition of Christmas Day games, the NBA regular season is slated to begin on 22 December, even though a schedule is yet to be released.
According to The Athletic, teams will be allowed to chose whether to play three or four preseason games and will have to host at least one of those in their home arena.
Albeit being no set plans on spectators being allowed at arenas, reigning champions LA Lakers already decided against having fans in attendance at the Staples Center when the regular season dunks off.
The NBA has also overhauled its calendar following the unforeseen circumstances surrounding the conclusion of the 2019-20 season after the outbreak of Covid-19.
NBA’s Free Agency for the 2020-21 season is now scheduled for Friday, 20 November, with free agents allowed to sign for new clubs as from Wednesday, 22 November. Also, the 2020 NBA Draft has been set for Wednesday, 18 November.
Training camps will be open from 1 December to allow teams to settle in and have as much as two weeks of preparation before heading to preseason.
Despite reports indicating that the NBA’s freeze in trades ruling will be abolished, it is currently still in place. However, the reports have also claimed that teams could be allowed to broker deals from as early as Sunday, with Monday also possible.
