NBA Playoffs 2020: Anthony Davis won it at the buzzer as Lakers take a comfortable 2-0 lead against Denver

Anthony Davis made a game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer as the Los Angeles Lakers held off a furious comeback attempt by the Denver Nuggets to come away with a 105-103 win in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals on Sunday.

The final few possessions of the game, which included an Alex Caruso missed 3-pointer, a Jamal Murray block and Davis’ winning shot were phenomenal.

The Lakers rode on LeBron James‘ shoulder in the first half as the NBA superstar quickly scored 20 points. But the Nuggets gave us an exhilarating finish as they slowly erased a 10-point halftime deficit over the course of the second half.

Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 31 points, while James added 26 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists.

Denver who now faces a must-win scenario heading into Game 3 played much better than it did in the series opener.

Anthony Davis showed up to the occasion he has been craving, the type of opportunity that led him to the Los Angeles Lakers.

With two seconds left and the Lakers trailing by a point in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals, Davis drained the “biggest shot of his career thus far,” his 3-pointer at the buzzer as the Lakers ran out 105-103 winners to take a 2-0 lead in this series. Two wins away from that biggest of stages that Davis has been yearning for.

Lakers coach, Frank Vogel, called it a “Mamba Shot”. The Lakers were wearing their Mamba uniforms, in honour of late Kobe Bryant. And Davis channelled his inner-Kobe at that moment. He didn’t hesitate, rising and firing the way Bryant- the Laker icon – did so many times during his Hall of Fame career.
