It’s been more than a decade since Nigerian rapper M.I Abaga released his second studio album “MI 2: The Movie” and it’s still one of the finest body of work ever released to date.
“MI 2” was a classic, a moment in history defined only by pure mastery and class. It delivered just as anticipated.
The album was undisputedly the best hip-hop album to be released in 2010 despite competitions from Modenine, Jesse Jagz, Terry Tha Rapman, Overdose, Sauce Kid, Ikechukwu, 2Shotz, Vector, Cartier, Pherowshuz, and A-Q. M.I aka the short black boy was not to be stopped.
“MI 2” was a groundbreaking body of work not just for Jude Abaga alone but for the entire music industry and for the next decade of music in Nigeria. The manner in which M.I blended so many local sounds with Hip-Hop and it still retained its appeal to the diverse end of the genre is a masterpiece.
The album contained 15 tracks and it features mostly artists from Chocolate City and a few other outsiders in the industry.
