Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez are engaged, Sanchez’s brother says as he files lawsuit against Bezos

Michael Sanchez, who is Lauren Sanchez’s brother and a Hollywood talent manager is suing Bezos and his security consultant, Gavin de Becker for defamation.

Michael Sanchez claims Bezos and his security consultant defamed him when they told the press that he was responsible for releasing Bezos and Lauren’s nude pictures to The National Enquirer in 2018.

In the defamation lawsuit he filed in Los Angeles, he referred to Bezos as his sister’s ‘current fiance’ and described his sister as Bezos’ fiancee.

The lawsuit contains several claims about their relationship, including allegations that their affair started earlier than is being claimed and that Lauren Sanchez had a hand in leaking the news to the press.

“While Mr de Becker’s initial asserted theory was that Mr. Sanchez had sold out his sister for $200,000, Mr de Becker soon realized this theory would not hold up because, among other reasons, it was inconceivable that Mr. Sanchez would ruin his relationship with his sister and her current fiance, the richest man in the world, for financial gain,” the court documents state according to Daily Mail.

This is coming after Page Six published pictures in December that show Sanchez wearing a large engagement ring on her right hand. Engagement rings are typically worn on the left hand.

The suit also claims that Michael Sanchez helped the couple to cover up their affair. They have since divorced their spouses in order to go public with their relationship.

“This included developing and publicizing false narratives (e.g., ‘they met while working on a documentary’ and ‘both families dealt with this last year,’ despite the fact that their spouses had been blindsided by the affair and, as of January 7, 2019, the couple’s children were not aware of the affair),” the suit says.

Sanchez admits in the suit that he worked with the National Enquirer, but claimed that he was just trying to get ahead of the story. He also claims that he Lauren once asked him to leak the information about her affair with Bezos to TMZ, but he talked her out of it.

Earlier this week, Bezos filed a motion accusing Sanchez of extortion via the defamation suit. He also called Sanchez’s claims baseless.

“Mr. Sanchez is now bringing this action to gain money from Mr. Bezos, the very person whose information he sold to the National Enquirer,” Bezos argued in his filing. “Mr. Sanchez claims he is doing so because he is now unhappy about news coverage concerning the media maelstrom that he helped cause, after receiving the $200,000 and betraying his sister.”

Bezos and Sanchez confirmed their relationship in January 2019 following claims that the two had been cheating on their spouses. Shortly after the news broke, Bezos and Mackenzie, his wife of 25 years announced that they were getting a divorce.
