The Premier League

The world’s most-followed league, the Premier League, resumed back on the 17th of June 2020 with 2 outstanding games played. It started with all enthusiasm and support for current world issues such as the ‘Black Lives Matter‘ movement.

As usual, the most followed league restarted with controversy as Sheffield United was denied a winner due to technical errors on the goal line.

The other game, however, was more of a familiar one. Manchester City thumping Arsenal by 3 goals on the night with Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne, and Phil Foden getting on the scorers’ sheet. David Luiz also gave us a replay of how horrendous he is at defending, an all too familiar occurrence as he also got sent off during the game.

The Coppa Italia

Juventus were denied an opportunity to win their first silverware of the season as they were edged out on penalties by Napoli on Wednesday night.

Napoli held the Serie A defending champions to a goalless affair in normal time and defeated them 4-2 on penalties as Dybala and Danilo lost their spot-kicks to hand Napoli their first silverware since 2014.

A lot of backlash from fans came for Cristiano Ronaldo who lost a penalty a week ago against AC Milan in the build-up to the Coppa Italia final. Fans condemned him for not taking a penalty during the game.

The Italian Serie A would restart on June 20.
