Cardi B, who has said many times that she loves Nigeria very much, asked for details about the protests once a few Nigerians called her attention to it.
Recall that she visited Nigeria in December 2019 for a concert that saw her quickly become a favourite among Nigerians.
On Thursday, 8 October, concerned Nigerians including a number of celebrities including Tiwa Savage, Toke Makinwa, Falz, Runtown, and a number of BBNaija stars, took to the streets to protest.
The ripples of the street protests spread to social media and a Twitter user, Asiwaju Larry, called Cardi B’s attention, asking her for help spotlighting the event.
He wrote: “Madam @iamcardib, trump is not your only problem. Your beloved Nigeria is currently in a state of pandemonium. We are not safe!!
“If you’ve ever loved this country, please help use your platform to create more awareness for us. Enough is enough! #EndSarsProtests #EndSARSNow!!”
Cardi responded by asking for more details, reiterating the fact that she loves the country. She wrote: “What’s going ? Can you give me a summary so I can research later ….you know I love Nigeria”

Nigerians have been complaining and calling for an end to the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) because of the alleged indiscriminate killing and extortion of youths in the country.
After Cardi’s statement, Nigerians expressed surprise at the fact that Cardi B paid attention to the protests before Nigerian lawmakers did.
See the reactions below:
Cardi B all the way in the US asked what’s going on in Nigeria but the President of Nigeria hasn’t said anything, the Governor of Lagos state hasn’t said anything. Next election, let’s just put a goat or a piece of yam to rule us because there’s really no difference.
