The Juventus player was crowned the Serie A player of the year at the Gran Gala del Calcio in Milan, which would explain why he was not present at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris.
According to reports, he waited in his car until the last moment before he entered the building to receive the prize.
“It’s an honour to hold this award,” Ronaldo said in Italian. “I thank my Juventus teammates.
“I’m very happy to play in Italy, it’s a very difficult league. Thanks to everyone for having voted for me. I want to do as well this year, too.”
Ronaldo also took to his Instagram page after the event to thank everyone who voted for him for the award. He also revealed that he has had a hard year in Italy but he’s happy and wants to be better.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored 26 goals during the season, helping Juventus cinch another domestic title.
This year, however, he has had a harder time than usual, scoring only six goals in his 11 Serie A appearances.
