Jackson implied that Arsenal had refused to wet the grounds of their pitch on purpose to stop City from playing free-flowing football.
“After 20 years with the same coach, they didn’t water the pitch before a game or at half-time and that is very unusual,” he said.
“It didn’t do them any good in the end.”
He says he told Pep of his observation and praised Pep’s attention to detail while also admitting that Arsenal’s pitch wasn’t the worst pitch he had seen.
“Pep’s attention to detail is phenomenal, it is something I’ve never experienced before,” he said.
“Most coaches now want the grass to be wet and short because the ball travels faster but I remember when Tony Pulis was at Stoke City.
“You couldn’t even see your feet on the grass when you walked, that’s how long it was!”
