Champions League Round 2 Match Day 1 Highlights

 

 

Ronaldo scores fourth goal in two Champions league games as Harry Kane top scoring charts with hat-trick against APOEL and Liverpool are held in Russia.

 

The matches last night involved every team in the groups E to H of the UEFA Champions league and we take you through the results and latest standings.

 

Group E.

 

Sevilla finally go top after the group had stayed level on points as they condemned Maribor to a 3-0 defeat in Spain with Yedder notching his first Champions league hat-trick scoring all three goals with a late penalty. Meanwhile, Liverpool play out a 1-1 draw with Spartak Moscow after Philippe Coutinho equalized for the Reds with 31 minutes on the clock to cancel out Fernando’s opener for Spartak Moscow. Liverpool and Spartak Moscow both now have two points and are equal on goal diffenc with group’s underdogs Maribor sitting at fourth.

 

Group F.

 

Manchester City beat Shakhtar Donetsk 2-0 thanks to second half goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling after Sergio Aguero had failed to convert from the spot to double their lead. Napoli meanwhile continue to keep pac with City after the beat Feyenoord 3-1 with goals coming from their forwards Insigne, Mertens and Callejon who restored the two-goal  lead after Toornstra halved the deficit with a penalty. Manchester City are top with Napoli second and Donetsk sits third.

 

Group G.

 

Besiktas surprisingly top the group after they beat RB Leipzig who have failed to impress in the competition 2-0 and Monaco were looking for their first win but were dealt a sever blow after Porto left them in tatters with a massive 3-0 defeat with Aboubakar grabbing a brac.

 

Group H.

 

Tottenham continue their impressive run in the Champions League as they beat APOEl Nicosia 3-0 and Harry Kane got his first Champions league hat-trick for the Spurs, Real Madrid still top the proceedings after Dortmund could not match the class of the Los Blancos that saw Ronaldo score a brace again after Gareth Bale had opened the scoring for the Spanish giants. Dortmund are third and above Apoel Nicosia due to conceding one less goal.
