Vanessa Lachey is changing the narrative at the NCIS franchise as she takes the crime investigation spotlight for the latest offering in the franchise, NCIS: Hawai’i.
The NCIS franchise – NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans – have all featured men in their major roles except now that Lachey is taking the spotlight.
The new series, NCIS: Hawai’i, premiered at 10 pm (ET) on 20 September 2021 on CBS. In the premiere episode, an experimental Naval aircraft crashes on Oahu, and the NCIS team must find who is behind it before the classified state secrets are exposed.
Vanessa Lachey plays Special Agent in Charge of NCIS, Pearl Harbor Jane Tennant, who splits her time between investigating high-stakes crimes involving military personnel and being a mom.
With the release of the premiere of her new show, actress Vanessa Lachey shared a video clip of the day she found out that she had gotten the role of Jane Tennant, making her the first female lead actor in the show franchise’s history.
In the video clip, Vanessa could be seen in her car just after receiving the call from CBS, and she takes her fans on a tear-filled journey to her best friend’s house, where she shares the news.
Speaking with her friend amid tears, she said: “I just found out I got the job… and I’m so happy“
