Popular black-American mega-movie producer and actor Tyler Perry has lost his nephew, Gavin Porter, to suspected suicide.
According to local news outlets, Gavin Porter, 26, died by suspected suicide in his cell at the Union Parish Detention Center at Farmerville, on Saturday night.
The prison officials told the actor’s family that the deceased was checked on by 6pm and nothing of concern was found and after two hours when the guards came back to check, he was found dead. The deceased hung himself with a bedsheet while in solitary confinement.
Gavin was handed a 20-year jail sentence after he was found guilty of shooting and killing his biological father in 2016, in front of his mother. The incident reportedly occurred after they got into an argument.
TMZ reported that the Perry family, after being notified of Gavin’s death at his prison facility near St. Helena Parish in Louisiana, does not believe the suicide story.
