In July, Megan Thee Stallion was shot in both feet while returning from a party with Tory Lanez and her friend. On the same night, Lanez was arrested on gun charges.
Following weeks of silence, Megan came forward to accuse Canadian rapper, Lanez of shooting her during an argument.
Now, TMZ is reporting that according to a text message that the publications saw, Lanez apologized on 12 July, 15 hours after the shooting.
He blamed the incident on alcohol, writing: “I know u prolly never gone talk to me again, but I genuinely want u to know I’m sorry from the bottom of my heart.”
He added: “I was just too drunk.”
He continued: “None the less sh*t should have never happened and I can’t change what did. I just feel horrible. Cuz I genuinely just got too drunk.”
Lanez was arrested on the night he shot Megan Thee Stallion for carrying a concealed weapon. Police said that they found the weapon under the front seat where he had been sitting, according to TMZ.
Megan stayed quiet for weeks after the shooting and did not publicly name her shooter until 19 August during an Instagram Live.
“You shot me,” she said, addressing Lanez in her video. “And you got your publicist and your people going to these blogs lying and sh*t. Stop lying. Why lie? I don’t understand.”
While the police have not formally charged Lanez with anything, TMZ is reporting that the Los Angeles Police DA is considering charging him with felony assault with a firearm.
