Tonto Dikeh narrates how she was almost stabbed during her street giveaway

Nigerian actress Tonto Dikeh took to her Instagram story to narrate how she was almost stabbed by a man during her giveaway in a community.

The actress is the CEO of the Tonto Dikeh Foundation. Since the beginning of the lockdown, the actress and her team have taken out time to ensure that they empower poor Nigerians with the right amenities for the lockdown period like food, sanitisers, hand gloves, masks, etc.

However, in a particular community where the actress visited yesterday, 9th April 2020, the actress reported on her Instagram story that she and her team were mobbed even with their security.

“A man was literally holding two bags of rice with our foundation name on it and still brought a sharp object to stab me with saying I deprived him of food,” Tonto writes on her Instagram story.

The actress continues: “If not for my street smart attitude we wouldn’t be here today. We had security but was mobbed by over 2,000 men women in this community.

“The hunger in Nigeria is becoming very dangerous. I’m super sorry to all my team members who were attacked, beaten and rough-handled by the same people we want to help.

The actress also has a word of caution to other foundations going out into the field even as she apologises to her volunteers who were affected during the said incident.

“Please foundations seek the help of authorities when going out,” she says, “we were almost killed.

“To my volunteers affected, please accept our deepest apologies on behalf of the Foundation.
