Singer Eedris Abdulkareem reportedly arrested for beating up landlord

Nigerian singer Eedris Abdulkareem has been allegedly been arrested by the police for beating up his landlord over unpaid electricity bill.

The singer was arrested on reports that he physically assaulted his landlord, Oladipo Abimbola, over an unpaid N535,000 accumulated electricity bill. the incident is said that have taken place on 3 on January 2020, at Valley View Estate, Ikeja, Lagos state.

According to the landlord, Eedris’ wife was the one who rented the apartment on behalf of her husband, so, he didn’t know the singer was to be his tenant as well. While appealing to the police to come to his aid, the landlord alleged that the singer was an antisocial and a dangerous person. He stated that such people would stop at nothing to carry out their threat. He also claimed that the singer constantly owed him rent.

Eedris Adbulkareem denied attempting to assault his Landlord. He went ahead to accuse his landlord of sexually harassing his wife in his absence and that all efforts to make him stop failed. He also stated that the landlord had been previously arrested for harassing a female tenant.

The wife of the landlord reported that the singer forced himself into their compound to come to beat her husband and strangle him for instructing officials of Ikeja Electricity Distribution ( IKED) to disconnect electricity supply to his house. He said Abimbola frequently encroached on their side of the compound without permission. The case is still ongoing.

Eedris Abdulkareem is a hip-hop singer who is best known for the single Mr Lecturer, about lecturers who solicit sex in exchange for grades in higher institutions. He was started his music career with the boy-band The Remedies. He has several albums to his credits including P.A.S.S. (“Pains And Stress = Success”) (2002), Mr Lecturer(also in 2012)m Jaga Jaga (2004), Letter to Mr President (2005), King Is Back (2007) and Unfinished Business (2010). He hasn’t released any new work in recent years
