One of the songs on Lil Wayne’s upcoming album addresses the topic of his attempted suicide at 12.

When he was 12, Wayne found a gun in his mother’s home “and shot himself in the chest, just missing his heart,” Wayne says in the magazine. In the past Wayne had said this was an “accident,” but on a verse on the unnamed track he now “admits this was a suicide attempt, undertaken after his mother told him he would no longer be allowed to rap,” according to Billboard.

It had originally been on the album but following the recent suicides by Anthonu Boudain and Kate Spade, Lil Wayne aded some more lyrics to the track which is now the album’s outro.

Lil Wayne also spoke about his long time beef with Birdman which has recently been squashed. He also talked about how his relationship with Birdman has changed. He said, “Not even just with him, but my relationships with a lot of people have become different, just because of how different I work now,”
