Floyd Estel Parton who was a songwriter died at the age of 61. According to his obituary, published by the funeral home in Tennessee, Floyd passed away on Thursday, December 6. The cause of his death was not made public.
The late Floyd was described as a true “Renaissance man” with an array of talents and expertise with “abundant knowledge of nature,” as well as an “incredible cook.”
Floyd was also a music lover who wrote the 1991 hit track Rockin’ Years, which was recorded by his sister, Dolly Parton, and Ricky Van Shelton. He also wrote the 1978 hit Nickels and Dimes which was sung by Dolly Parton and later George Burns.
