Cardi B and Candace Owens in Twitter fight over Grammy performance of WAP

Out of the several backlashes that followed her and Megan Thee Stallion’s WAP performance at the Grammy 2021 awards, Cardi B chose to reply to Candace Owens criticism and the two women went for each other’s throats.

Vulture noted that both Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B tried their best to make their hit collaboration as radio-friendly as possible. They removed such phrases as “bucket,” “little dangly thing” and even “WAP” itself.

Yet, a lot of people still found issues with the performance, as viewers called it “not family-friendly” enough to be aired on TV. Some also said it was “inappropriate” as well.

Meanwhile, before the two women had come up on stage, the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards host Trevor Noah had given the viewers a warning about what was to come. See full list of Grammy 2021 winners here:

The “Bodak Yellow” singer had largely ignored most of the criticism as she did when she first dropped the song‘s video in 2020. However, she replied to Candace Owens comments about the performance.

Candace Owens, an American conservative author, political commentator, and activist, had come on FOX News to slam Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion. Owens said that the performance being allowed at the Grammys showed the destruction of American values and principles.

Initially, Cardi had mocked Owens statement. She said that she put her performance on Fox News giving it more views on YouTube and is counting towards streams and sales.

Owens then called Cardi by her birth name, Belcalis, in a tweet accusing her of encouraging young women to strip themselves of dignity. The rapper replied that she was inspired by the former First Lady and she added a nude-model photo of Melania Trump to her tweet.

Soon, Candace threatened to sue Cardi for posting a Photoshopped tweet that claims that she wrote about her husband cheating on her with her brother. In response, Cardi threatened to countersue her for claiming that she “and her team” Photoshopped the tweet.

Their online fight has become the most talked-about thing on Twitter with millions of tweets about Candace and Cardi. People have taken different sides on the matter with some saying that parents should take responsibility for what their children watch. Cardi B had said the same thing when she released WAP’s video.
