In the episode, titled Social Media for Dummies 101, she says, “welcome to another episode of Toke Moments, this week is all about Social Media, the good, the bad and the ugly.
“Know anyone who is apprehensive of joining social media? You need to show them this clip.”
But this episode’s topic has an interesting backstory.
This is the week where business people, Glory Osei and Muyiwa Folorunso were accused by ex-workers of fraudulent activities, among other things. Toke Makinwa was one of the public figures who condemned their actions, tweeting:
If you know the struggle of unemployment and you managed to start your own business only to become the evil employer to those in a position you once faced, only God can judge you.

A Twitter user, @lerivay, then shared several tweets accusing Toke Makinwa of owing her workers six months’ salary.
An incensed Toke replied to her:
You see why a free app in the hands of the jobless is a problem? Anyone can say anything to get a reaction. Miss me with this BS https://t.co/4584jkidt0

Then she shared a series of tweets on the toxicity of social media:
Social media is fun, it’s been such a blessing to me, it has helped me connect with you all, it has been such a useful tool to help promote my business, I have watched my career take on so many amazing feats and it only just keeps getting better, I love all the amazing apps etc

It has it’s downsides, wrong information without being verified have cost people jobs, opportunities and basically trended beyond just SM, it’s sold perceptions that are entirely wild and made so many people generally promote their business without engaging much

Just a couple of weeks ago there was a case of someone being wrongfully accused of rape, being a public figure is tricky cos everyone has an opinion, everyone wants to control what you say, how you say it, if you say it, etc.

You don’t lend your voice you are not sympathetic to the plight of the masses, you do, you are accused of chasing clout or the fact that you did not lend it how they want you too, say what they are expecting or be the standard that caresses their ego, you can’t win.

It’s been over 24 hours, someone her picture is attached accused me of not paying my staff salary for 6 months, now this fellow is not under my employ but is insisting a “pregnant lady” or one with child works for me and is being owed money/monies for 6 months.
— Toke Makinwa (@tokstarr) October 23, 2019
Anyone that has worked for me has benefits, again this is not to defend myself cos if you know me, you’ll know I don’t care what you think. Those who matter know the truth, those who don’t will always be closed minded, but I have businesses and after waiting for 23 hours to meet

Or see anyone come forward with receipts I have decided to end this once and for all. Public people are not easy targets, you cannot just type whatever and get away with it. It happens too much and just has to be dealt with. So let’s play

I could easily send my lawyers after you buy they are too busy making me money so let’s settle this on this same app. At least to begin with. There is a 500k bounty for anyone with information about who the handler of that account is. The twitter handle is @lerivay
— Toke Makinwa (@tokstarr) October 23, 2019
There is money involved, so she did find the person behind the account. The lady did lawyer up, with the lawyer asking Toke to remove the 500,000 Naira bounty she placed on Lerivay’s head.
According to the lawyer, Lerivay is receiving death threats already from the tweets she shared.
He added that if any harm comes to Lerivay, Toke would be held liable.
