It’s official, money does bring happiness, forget what anyone else might have said to the contrarily. Billionaire Bill Gates believes so and that’s enough for us.
Gates made the suggestion during his seventh “Ask Me Anything” session on Reddit on Monday. And if you don’t know about Reddit, I suggest you go look it up; it’s where folks share lots of interesting and sometimes esoteric ideas. Did I also mention funny and viral threads?
So, on this seventh instalment of the billionaire’s question and answer session, a user asks:
“Do you think being a billionaire has made you a happier person than if you were just a middle-class person?”
Without missing a beat, the Microsoft co-founder responds: “Yes. I don’t have to think about health costs or college costs. Being free from worry about financial things is a real blessing.”
He continues: “Of course, you don’t need a billion to get to that point. We do need to reduce the cost growth in these areas” — health care and education — “so they are accessible to everyone.”
Both are systems in which he and his wife Melinda have invested billions and which they are are determined to help improve.
So why the billionaire didn’t outrightly say money brings happiness, he sure tells us money can buy the things that bring us happiness – the same thing if you ask us. And a point a Reddit user acknowledges when they say:
“Thank you for this answer. It’s the reason why many want to be “rich”, but not like super rich… rich enough to not worry about money for basic services and the ability to enjoy your life and family.”
So, this writer isn’t yet giving up and yet on hammering, the legit way, of course. Certainly being able to afford necessity and some beats the alternative. And I would rather be a giver than a receiver.
