The Super Eagles captain has just launched a football foundation in Lagos, with the aim of discovering new talent across Nigeria.
Called The Mikel Obi Foundation, the foundation will focus on teaching children between the ages of 3 and 15 football. The outfit will also help the kids develop and hone their skills. The foundation started this week with 150 children (boys and girls).
According to The Guardian Mikel stated his dream for the foundation, saying:
“When we kick off proper, it’s going to be about going to the streets, villages to find talent. We know Nigeria has talents and this is what I want to do. We are looking at Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt.”
The foundation will soon start an initiative called Nigeria’s Next Football Superstar, which will bring out young and promising football talent.
