Italian side Napoli will fine Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen for testing positive to COVID-19 after he threw a birthday party in Lagos that disregarded Covid-19 protocols.
Victor Osimhen had joined Napoli on a record transfer fee that held high hopes. However, he has managed to feature in only eight matches and scored two goals since then.
Initially, his woes started after he suffered an injury in November 2020 while playing for Nigeria against Sierra Leone. Now, he is set to miss even more games after he tested positive for COVID-19.
Some of the matches that Victor Osimhen may miss include’s Napoli league fixtures against Cagliari, Udinese and Spezia. He could also miss his club’s match against Empoli in the league cup.
Napoli board and Gannaro Gattuso, the manager, are unhappy with the positive COVID-19 test and will punish Osimhen for it. This is because they believe he contracted the virus because of his carelessness.
